Takasaki Red Daruma
Traditional Series – “Fortune Edition”
This Daruma belongs to our Traditional Series, rooted in the original spirit of Japanese craftsmanship.
Made in Takasaki, the heart of Daruma production in Japan,
each piece is handcrafted using traditional papier-mâché techniques and finished with hand-painted details.
Extra Large Size(24 cm)
For Space, Presence, and Long-Term Intentions
This is the largest size in our collection.
With its height of approximately 24 cm,
it carries a strong and grounding presence within a space.
Rather than something you simply place,
it becomes something you live with —
a quiet anchor for long-term goals, personal intentions, or meaningful environments.
Approx. 17 cm × 24 cm
(6.7 in × 9.4 in)
Its size allows it to stand firmly,
making it suitable as a focal point in a room, workspace, or entrance.
A Handmade Presence
Each Daruma is individually handcrafted,
which means no two are exactly the same.
This particular piece includes a small handmade irregularity
around the mustache area, where a slight shift occurred during the process.
It does not affect its stability or durability,
and is part of the natural outcome of traditional production.
Rather than perfection,
it carries the trace of the human hand.
The Meaning of “Fuku” (福)
On the front of the Daruma, you will find the kanji 福 (Fuku).
It represents:
Happiness
Good fortune
Blessings
Rather than a single wish,
Fuku carries a broader meaning —
a quiet hope for steady well-being in daily life.
On the sides, 家内安全 (Kanai Anzen) expresses:
Safety and harmony within the family
Protection of the home
What is a Daruma?
Daruma is a traditional Japanese wishing doll that symbolizes:
Perseverance
Resilience
Determination
Inspired by Bodhidharma,
it reflects the spirit of:
“Nanakorobi yaoki” — fall down seven times, get up eight.
It is not only a symbol of making wishes,
but a reminder to continue, step by step.
Eyes – A Personal Ritual
Daruma comes with blank eyes.
When you set your intention, fill in one eye
Place it somewhere visible
When your goal is fulfilled, fill in the second eye
There is no strict rule —
what matters is the connection between your intention and the act.
A Presence Rooted in Everyday Life
The red Daruma is not tied to a single wish.
It represents something more fundamental —
continuing, steadily and quietly.
With its larger size,
this presence becomes more visible in daily life,
gently supporting your path over time.
Please Note
Each piece is handmade,
so slight variations in shape, expression, and color are part of its unique character.
Colors may appear slightly different depending on lighting and screen settings.
A Step Forward
In Japan, it is often said that
you begin with a smaller Daruma,
and when your wish is fulfilled,
you choose a slightly larger one for your next goal.
This Extra Large Daruma
can be that next step —
a quiet marker of where you are now,
and where you are heading.
