A piece of Japanese memory, transformed into a new life.
This jewelry is handmade from vintage Japanese kimono silk, carefully selected for its beautiful colors and traditional patterns.
This piece is made from a kimono with a beautiful brick-red to purple color gradation, creating a rich and elegant backdrop for the floral motifs.
The Brooch in made using sections of the chrysanthemum motif from the original kimono, carefully selected and cut so that each flower reveals delicate details of the original textile. Fine gold accents woven into the kimono catch the light softly, adding a subtle touch of elegance.
The same kimono fabric has been used to create several pieces, but each one has a different pattern placement and color balance. Every piece carries its own unique expression.
In Japan, the word “katami” (形見) refers to something precious kept to remember a person or a special time.
KATAMI is inspired by this spirit of carrying memories forward.
A kimono that once accompanied someone’s life is transformed into wearable jewelry — becoming part of a new story with its new owner.
■ Meaning of the Motif
Ume (Plum Blossom)
The plum blossom is traditionally associated with patience, hope, and new beginnings in Japanese culture.
Blooming at the end of winter, before many other flowers, ume has long been appreciated as a symbol of enduring difficult times and looking toward the spring ahead.
Chrysanthemum
The chrysanthemum is a traditional Japanese motif associated with longevity, nobility, and good fortune.
Its graceful form has been used in Japanese textiles and decorative arts for centuries.
