This jewelry is handmade from vintage kimono silk fabric, carefully selected for its beautiful colors and traditional patterns.

This piece is created from a kimono featuring Sho-Chiku-Bai (松竹梅) — the traditional combination of pine, bamboo, and plum blossoms in Japan, symbolizing good fortune, resilience, and new beginnings.

The plum blossoms and bamboo leaves have been carefully selected from the original textile and transformed into a unique jewelry set.

In Japan, the word “katami” (形見) refers to something precious kept to remember a person or a special time. Traditionally, treasured belongings such as clothing were sometimes shared among family members, allowing memories to continue living with each person.

KATAMI is inspired by this spirit of carrying memories forward.

A kimono that has lived through time is given a new form as wearable jewelry — becoming part of a new story with its new owner.

Only two sets were created from this kimono fabric.
Each piece is truly one of a kind, with unique pattern placement and colors that cannot be exactly recreated.

■ Meaning of the Motif

Ume (Plum Blossom)

The plum blossom is a symbol of patience and hope in Japanese culture.

Blooming at the end of winter, before many other flowers, ume represents the strength to endure difficult times and the promise of a new beginning.

Sho-Chiku-Bai (Pine, Bamboo, Plum)

A traditional Japanese auspicious motif representing good fortune, strength, and perseverance.

• Matching earrings

The brooch features bright pink and red plum blossoms with blue and purple accents from the original kimono pattern.

The earrings feature pink plum blossoms paired with bamboo details.

Each flower is carefully handmade from vintage kimono silk textile.

• Tiger’s Eye natural stone (4 mm) in the brooch center
