Wood and Washi Circle Earrings – Momiji & Flowing Water
These earrings bring a sense of movement, light, and seasonal change.
Each 3 cm wooden circle is covered with multi-color printed washi, created using a traditional hand-printing technique. The result is a surface closer to textile yuzen, with soft color transitions and fine details.
The front features momiji (maple leaves) drifting across a white and light blue background, delicately outlined in gold.
The back reveals a calm flow of golden water, adding a quiet contrast.
This combination of maple leaves and flowing water is known as Tatsutagawa, a classical motif in Japan. It evokes the image of autumn leaves floating along a river, symbolizing the beauty of change and the passing of time.
Despite its poetic origin, the light color palette makes these earrings especially easy to wear.
They pair naturally with simple summer outfits—such as a white T-shirt and jeans—adding a subtle yet distinctive Japanese accent.
The washi is coated for protection and is naturally water-resistant, making it suitable even on rainy days.
Lightweight and comfortable, with a fresh and airy presence.
