About

It Started with a Button

It started with a single button.
Just one push.
In Japan, I kept hearing how much clothing is bought
and thrown away each year.
I didn’t know what to do about it.
So I tried something small.
I made a fabric-covered button.
It was surprisingly easy.
Just one press.
But when I held it in my hand,
it felt different.
I had made it myself.
And suddenly, it felt precious.

A small realization

That small experience changed how I saw things.
When we move our hands —
even once —
we begin to understand
the warmth behind handmade work.
The quiet passion of artisans.
The time woven into each piece.
And above all —
the gentle joy of creating.

Milan

I wanted others to feel that joy too.
So in Milan,
I began sharing handmade materials
alongside carefully selected artisan pieces.
Not as a “Japanese goods store,”
but as a place
where meaningful gifts could be found.
We held workshops.
We shared stories.
We made things together.
And people loved it.

Portafortuna

Later, I introduced Portafortuna —
small charms carrying wishes of good fortune.
Because I have always believed
that a gift should carry more than beauty.
It should carry intention.
It should carry love.

The Future

La Zacca was born from that same belief.
That even something small
can change how we feel.
That when we choose with care,
we create connection.
I hope this becomes a place
where no one feels left behind —
and where handmade warmth
continues to travel quietly across the world.
