Origami Butterfly Earrings – Nadeshiko Wishes in Red
These delicate origami butterfly earrings are folded from hand-printed Kyoto washi by Asai Chōraku-en, featuring a gold nadeshiko =Japanese Pink pattern.
Inspired by the image of a butterfly gracefully fluttering in the air, each piece is folded with a wish: that the wearer may enjoy life fully, elegantly, and healthily.
The butterfly symbolizes transformation, growth, and joy. In Japan, it is also considered “Primo amore, ultimo amore”—a symbol of first and last love—and is sometimes used as a motif in weddings.
The red color brings good fortune, celebration, and protection.
The nadeshiko motif represents the ideal of Japanese femininity—delicate, graceful, yet quietly strong, like a flower you would gently caress. By wearing it, one carries a subtle wish for elegance, resilience, and happiness.
These earrings are coated with a protective varnish finish. While washi is naturally water-resistant, the coating ensures they can withstand light rain, making them suitable for daily wear.
